Area 2:Classic Scene
Zone 9: Yilan; North-link Line
In response to the TRA railway rapid transit systematization project, the railway track elevation work was carried out at Dongshan, Yilan. Dongshan Station was built in a way to represent the local image of gourd racks. The new-generation trains, such as the red-and-white Taroko Express and Puyuma Express, run on the elevated rails over verdant rice paddies and rivers in Eastern Taiwan, adding a touch to the landscape of plains and presenting a new image of Eastern Taiwan railways.
The North-link Line, which has been in service since 1980, runs from Su'ao Station to Hualien Station and boasts the classic views of cliffs and oceans along the way. The steep coastal geology makes the ocean appear to be barely separated from the mountains. The scene of trains running on the rails flanked by mountains and oceans has become the most noticeable characteristic of Eastern Taiwan railways.
